The UK Society for Extracellular Vesicles is delighted to have launched a mentoring scheme exclusively for all members. 16 mentoring partnerships have already been set up, with further mentees and mentors able to sign up on a rolling basis.
What is mentoring?
- Helping to make new contacts and collaborations
- Offering guidance and support
- Giving advice
- Helping to manage your career aspirations
- Sharing of experience and knowledge
Overall objectives of the UKEV mentoring scheme:
- To facilitate the creation of successful relationships between mentors and
mentees - Provide guidance and support that ensures mentors and mentees benefit
from the scheme - The scheme provides a formal platform to improve knowledge sharing
within the community - Mentors and mentees can create a confidential mentoring partnerships
aimed to offer advice on career and professional development
The role of the mentor:
- Fully committed to mentoring
- Approachable and positive
- Supportive
- Constructive
- Asks questions and gives advice
- Facilitates focus on long-term professional development
- Passing on of knowledge
