UKEV Travel Grants are available to help early career researchers (the applicants) attend and present their research at scientific conferences both within the UK and further afield.
The UKEV Travel Grant scheme is intended for technicians, PhD students and early-stage postdoctoral researchers (≤ five years, excluding career breaks). There may be some exceptions, for example, suitable applications from master’s students. This will be at the discretion of the UKEV Panel. As a prerequisite, applicants will need to be members of UKEV.
Travel Grants are available for up to £500 each and are intended to be used toward travel, accommodation or conference registration fees. Applications from ECRs who have had an abstract accepted to present their work (Poster, Lightning, Oral), will be prioritised. Whilst UKEV will provide up to a maximum of £500 a breakdown of all anticipated expenses must be included within the application. Where total costs are expected to exceed £500 an indication of where the remaining funds will be supplied from must be provided within the application.
Process:
- Identify the conference you wish to attend and calculate estimated expenses.
- Apply for a UKEV Travel Grant through the specific form found here.
Applications will open on the 18th October and close on the 18th November. It is anticipated that successful applicants will be informed within one month of the closing date and will be able to plan their conference travel immediately after that. The awarded UKEV Travel Grants will be paid by BACS into the recipients’ bank account on production of a completed expenses form, together with suitable receipts for conference registration, travel and/or subsistence, following the conference.
Successful applicants will be expected to write a short summary of how attending the conference benefited them, which will be published within the UKEV newsletter and on the UKEV website and may be used for publicity purposes on UKEV social media and in other outlets.
